We collect inferences about your location from your IP address, in order to serve you relevant location-limited content.  We do not collect any other location information.

Information retention

Your information is securely stored on servers in the United States, and access is restricted.   We may retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.  We do not retain your information any longer than necessary to accomplish the purposes for which it has been provided to us and to meet our business and legal obligations. We dispose of your information by ensuring that our data is safely and completely removed from our servers and/or retained only in anonymized form.

Lawful bases for processing information

Under the UK/EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  • We have a legal obligation;
  • We have a vital interest; and
  • We have a legitimate interest.

How we share your information

We may disclose information collected from and about you:

  • to our marketing partners, advertisers or other third parties, who may contact you with their own offers;
  • as necessary if we believe that there has been a violation of the Site Terms of Use or of our rights or the rights of any third party;

We may also disclose your personal information with your express consent.

Social media features 

Safeguard uses social media features from Facebook, YouTube, and Google on its websites, and we actively participate in social media platforms, including Instagram and LinkedIn as well as those already mentioned.  If you use the social media features, such as a Facebook “like” button or Google “share” button, your information is subject to the privacy notice of that platform.

Legal requirements to share

Sometimes we may be required to share personal information for legal reasons, for example, if we are required to do so by a regulation, court order, subpoena, or other legal process. We may also share information when we believe it’s necessary to comply with the law or to respond to a government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect Safeguard, our customers, or others.

We may share personal information in the event of a corporate sale, merger, acquisition, dissolution, or similar event. If such an event takes place, we’ll notify you through email (if we have your email address) and/or a prominent notice on our applicable website(s) of any change in ownership, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.

How we protect your information    

We have implemented administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect from you, including by using the most recent version of TLS (Transport Layer Security) for all website traffic.

You have certain choices regarding how we use your personal information.  You may choose not to receive promotional email from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in each message.

Protecting children’s privacy 

We do not direct the Site to, nor do we knowingly collect any personal information from, children under the age of thirteen.
